The Donation..

Turns out you don’t need to be a superhero to save lives. Just donate blood! This past week, Sam (my roommate) talked me into donating some blood at the blood drive on campus. We tried this a year ago, when she first pitched the idea to me…however, when I got there and saw the needle...that was the end of that. LOL..I went with her a couple months later during that spring semester but, I wasn’t allowed to donate because I had left the country within that year. Anyway, we decided third time’s a charm,  so I might as well give it a shot. We got there on Friday, and I was so pumped to finally donate. Mind you, I’m a first time donor, so I was a little nervous. Actually, I was really nervous! And scared. As I approached the cot I had to sit on, my heart started to race. Looking over at Sam, with fright written all over my face, she smiled, told me to relax, and that it would be just fine. I took a deep breathe, and thought I was ready.
Ugh….a few minutes into the donating process, I was freezing! I felt so tired and started freaking myself out. It felt like I had a dead arm the whole time…which scared me even more. After a few seconds of thinking rationally, I realized that I’m somewhat of a hypochondriac and that I was going to be just fine! LOL. When we were done, we got free cookies J that’s always a plus. I highly promote donating blood. One pint can save 3 lives!

Moving in Madness

Coming into this, or moving into this, I should say.. I knew I would have a lot of stories to tell one day. Having a blog about this is just kismet. I recently moved into an apartment on campus with my two friends, Sam and Krissi. My other roommate was a randomly selected girl named Courtney. Move in day was crazy! I got to school around 10 am, and the madness had already begun. The back and forth trips to the car, unloading, and then unpacking everything, was so tiring. Sam, Krissi and I were really excited to finally be living together after planning it for months. The only thing that was holding our excitement back, was meeting our new roommate. What if she’s really weird? Or mean, or shy or antisocial? LOL.. These were all the questions we asked each other before we met her. A few hours later, all our questions were answered. Courtney moved in, and she was so nice. After fretting about the whole situation for hours, things turned out alright.
The first week of school was very eventful – Bee stings, lost I.D. cards, shopping trips.. Etc. The funniest thing though, was what happened the other day. Krissi was at the shuttle stop waiting for it to come and take her to class. All of a sudden, she called me freaking out, saying that something had stung her! Just as the shuttle was nearing the stop, she ran back to the apartment. Sam and I were panicking because we didn’t know if she was allergic. She didn’t even know if she was allergic! Like a bat out of hell, she came in through the door, asking us to look at it. We checked it out, and it looked like a pretty serious sting. The spot on her leg was all red, but she wasn’t allergic. Thank God! After we cleaned it up and put a band aid on it, she went in her room to change. Two seconds later, we heard an extremely loud scream! She ran out of her room… shorts half on/ half off! LOL.. The bee fell out of her shorts!!! Sam and I ran in there to see what was going on, and it was a hornet! After much contemplating on how we should kill it, I took the plunge and hit it with my shoe. Aahh, the frenzy was finally over. It’s only been a week and a half of all of us living together, and life has been so entertaining! Can’t wait to see what next week brings.
